    the poster

I was first attracted to the colour of his safety gear against the black & white poster he's putting up. Then noticed the other old posters, in shades of blue, and the new poster in its blue tube. I think it needs that sliver of the real works on the left, and the road at the bottom, to frame it. But on the other hand a larger full frame image of the whole bill board didn't work for me.

    Re: the poster

Great find Paul, This looks good as presented. Quite possibly another image in here as well.
The left 1/3 is very strong,I'm drawn to the color contrast / B/W area.I like how the ladder puts the "lucky" guy behind bars and the gorgeous models are looking at me. :O)

    Nice urban work.

I prefer the crop. Puts more attention on the worker and three models on the billboard. Great catch.

The cropped is a better composition, but colour and contrast of the uncropped is better. Try turning up the colour saturation in the cropped version?

    Re: the poster

The uncropped version is stronger. It has a much more telling story behind it.

The cropped version is just a guy laying down a new poster.

Just because something is the point of interest of a photo doesn't mean it should be the only thing in the photo. Context adds a lot.

    Re: the poster

I'll take the cropped version. I am drawn to the three models in the upper left corner.

The first one would be stronger if the models heads weren't chopped.

    Re: the poster

I cropped the heads for several reasons.
First I felt it fitted in with the ripped, obscured and cut portions of the other images.
Second, I wanted the poster sticker on the ladder to be the main subject, cutting the heads seemed to help that.
Third, I'd just been looking at chinese and japanese prints, which often use the technique of cutting off objects that extend beyond the frame and I suspect the idea came from that.

    Re: the poster

This is a GREAT find Paul. That second crop is  though I agree with osprey877 that the colors could stand a skosh more vibrance.

    Re: the poster

Your first image had the depth of color that I like, but then, I really like pronounced color. This is such a fun shot -- I think that's why I'd like to see it BRIGHT. :smile5:

    Re: the poster

Paul, I like the second edit, the crop. I prefer the colors muted the way they are, although you know I tend to prefer that anyway. Having more color as in the first would be fine too, but that is totally your call.
In this case less is more and we get to really focus on the relation between the man on the ladder and the faces in the old posters in front of him.
    This is good.
