I like the tight composition. I can't decide on the open blossom.....it looks like a painted image. Right now I'm thinking its just a little overexposed.
I do intend to have another look later. That's a good thing.....shot is worth looking at more than once.

Tones could be widened a bit. I don't like where you cut it, and the closed flower is sort of obnoxious.

With that framing, it really should either be loosened up or tightened up a lot, I don't like that only 60% of it is showing, either have hte whole thing show, or close in on those little petals in the center.

Well, I like the colors and the close-up part. I wouldn't say that the closed bud in the background is "obnoxious"....it's just distracting, and it mighthave been better if it were not there. I agree that it would also have been better if more of the the blossom could have been shown.

Thanks everyone for helping out!
Are either of these an improvement?

IMO I like both of these new shots. In HybridLily3, what would happen if you brought the closest stamen into focus and let the stylus go out of focus?

The closed bloom seems a bid distracting to me. I would also like to see the open bloom not cut off.

    Re: Hybrid Lily

I like your first image better than the other 2.

The composition is striking, the colors are complementary, you didn't over do the flash and the dark background allows the subject to shine.
    No, I DON'T need that.
