I'm thinking it is the wrong subject for B&W-there just isn't enough tonal and texture range to keep the viewers attention.
    No, I DON'T need that.

I agree with MB, my first thought was that I wished it was in color.

Composition is great. I personally would like a little more dof so the front petal doesn't blur out.

I agree with both MB and CaraRose
Also there is a bit to much noise for me but that's more personal preference.

    Re: After The Rain

Is it b/w? I thought it was color without much there. I seem to see hints of green but maybe my glasses are moldy.
I like the subject and think this is well worth several shots with different compositions.
The one shown has the blossom toward upper left which is the same way it is open to. Since the flower points that way, the viewers eye is drawn in that direction only to be stopped short by the photo edge.
I think it would work better if it were more lower right.
To do this and keep the interesting branches would require that the point of view be moved left and shooting at more of an angle which would also show us some of the inside of the blossom.
    Keep Shooting!

    Re: After The Rain

THanks for the comments everyone. I really appreciate the input. I am constantly learning what I should and should not do when it comes to editing and composition, so your critiques are hopefully. The photo had a tint of blue and green in it so it wasn't completely B/W. This is the color version uncropped. I'll probably end up going back to the same spot and try out your suggestions.

    Re: After The Rain

    Hi Dave,

I definitely like the color better. The crop for the BW was very good I think. The branch to the right is a bit distracting. The close crop got rid of that.
