    Starved Rock State Park

Went to Starved Rock last weekend with my mom. Decent weather and the creeks and falls were all active. It was going to be my first trip with my new Canon XSi, but I was house/dog sitting for my brother the week before, and someone kicked his door in while I was out running errands (with two big and loud pussy cats of Shepherd crosses in the house!). Got my ancient laptop and my new XSi

So these were taken with my older (though still much loved) 300d. My mom had her panasonic lumix, which met an untimely fate in about 9 inches of water while we were crossing a creek in Illinois Canyon.... We're attempting to dry it out and see if it might be okay, but we're not confident about that at all.

Anyway, a few pictures from the trip. Brought the tripod along for a few hikes and played with some timed exposures.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Susan,

The second one is Tonti Canyon, it's one of the prettiest falls when it's in full flow in the spring, but I've always had a hard time getting good shots. I was zooming in to the top here, and other than the mist from this and the falls on the other side of the canyon, my camera was safe . I have a few pulled back shots but the lighting is so uneven that I end up harsh contrasts and blown highlights in most of them.
