    Purple finch

    One bird guide says it's very common. The other guide says it's uncommon.

    hmmm. I vote uncommon. I've never seen one.

    Funny thing is, both of the guides came out late last year

    They are a northern finch that goes east as they run out of food. Severe winters cause northern species to fly further south.
