    Sunset Shuttle Launch

Sunday night after a fine dinner (and with no idea of what was about to happen) I said to Miss M, "Lets go for a stroll around the neighborhood."

She is always up for a little exercise so off we went.

Good thing I just happened to bring the 420 along.....

A quick boost of the ISO and here we go.

I like the second one even if the girls feet are chopped.
Where were you? I don't think you can see shuttle launches from D.C.

The colors were from the setting sun.

We were 65 miles away, it was quite as could be.

Suuure MB, you can't fool me. That's a bottle rocket from last July.

Good that you got a shot or two, even though it wasn't a full bang-up expedition to the launch pad.

When I was living in Daytona in the late 80's/early 90's we were roughly 40 miles from the cape and the wine glasses in our glass rack would chatter when they launched! I've seen evening launches from as far away as the south end of Lake Okeechobee, but every stinkin' time I've driven up there to catch one, they seem to get perpetually "scrubbed" :mad2:

    MB,

Thanks so much for posting these shots. I have been a space flight fan since I was a child. My family and I made a trip to Florida to see a shuttle launch, scrubbed of course. These a such wonderful shots. Thanks again.
