    Short-Eared Owl

Been trying to photo the short-eyed owls lately. Unfortunately they did not want to be anywhere close to me :blush2:

I cropped a lot though. Still have to go back, when I have time, to see if I could get some better ones, i.e., IF the owls are more friendly and fly closer to me.

Terrific work. Great sharpness and positioning in all of these. I really like the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ones.

    Re: Short-Eared Owl

I haven't been able to get shots even half this good of short-eared owls. They do have a knack for flying straight away from me when I stir them up. I guess it doesn't help that where I've seen them, there's very little brush for perching. They drop down to the ground under all the grass.

Their eyes make them look like jets coming in with their landing lights on.

    Nice work!

    Re: Short-Eared Owl

I hate you ................. j/k.......... Awesome shots there is a owl preservation area in Croton Harmon NY which is about 20 minutes from me, but every time I go there the owls are not active and nowhere to be found there is suppose to be a great horned owl there but I have never seen it. I would love to get shots that good.
