    Gyrfalcon

Peterson Field Guide to Birds lists this falcon as "scare"; Smithsonian Field Guide says it's "regular within a restricted region in North America". So I think I may as well share this couple of record shots with you, in case you haven't seen one before. They breed in the Artic.

It was perching in a power tower high and quite far away from where I took the shot. So you're seeing heavily cropped shots here.

Local birders reported and identified a Gyrfalcon which like to perch in power tower in that small area (last report came a few days ago). No report of Prairie Falcon seen so far. I myself won't be able to tell one from another :blush2: :blush2: So I have to agree to whatever they call it
