1) I'm thinking your focus was spot on but perhaps a bit more depth of field would be good.
2) Perhaps a bit of light fill flash to bring out the color of the blossom.
3) I don't care for the format all that much, I think I would prefer something squarer.
3a) In the format you chose I think the composition works fairly well.
