    Moonlight

    Hi all

Today I went into the Whitechapel district of London (to get some pictures of sites associated with Jack the Ripper, but that's another story). I came across this which tickled me ....

As always, any comments are appreciated.

    Cheers

I dig it. I like the composition, and how the message on the wall works w/ the lady walking through the frame.

one question- is that motion blur actually how you captured it, or is it pp'd a little?

Same thoughts, same question. Really like it.

It looks like the luminance was taken down in the greens, whether or not that is in fact something you did. Love the color - very deep and intense.

    Is this the Pentax?

    At 1/30 second, f/4 I expect it's real.
Anyhow that looks like real motion blur, I've not seen convincing photoshop blur.

    Re: Moonlight

    Thanks guys

It is sort of my "house style" to have people walking through my frames - I set the shutter speed low enough to get them blurred, in this case 1/30 sec. It is a very frequent technique I use. (Yes, it was the Pentax)

The colour contrast in the scene was pretty intense anyway - to accentuate it, I boosted up the contrast quite a bit, darkened the whole thing with levels, and then desaturated a little - all to make the writing sort of "glow".

Just for interest, I include here one of the "Ripper" images I took today (it is an on-going project). This was Durward Street, formerly Bucks Row where the first victim was found. Someone had painted her name on the wall which I found an oddly touching gesture. Her body was found just behind where the workmen are standing, at the corner of the wall.

    Cheers
