boy, I haven't posted an image for critique in a long, long time. Here's a casual portrait of Barbara, using only window light for illumination. I wish I had used a reflector to bounce some light into her right eye, but too late. :-)

Hi Charles,

As always, you do great portraits, this one is no exception. If I had to find something to complain about, I would say that I would like to be able to see more of her R eye. As it is now, it's petty much lost in shadow. I'm also thinking the image needs a bit more contrast as well.

Other than those two things, the rest of the photo looks fine. Her fore-eye is in focus and has nice catchlights, and I like the tight crop.

It is wonderful casual portrait, it frames her face quite nicely.
I do agree with you about the right side, but all in all it isn't that bothersome.

only two cents--- the only thing I find distracting is the shadows that play out from either side of her nostrils

Beautiful pose and model, but something just doesn't sit right with me. I dunno, I think it's her expression. She looks sad, uncomfortable in a way. Something about it that I can't describe is making me feel rather...uncomfortable.

I agree about the bounce, but overall I really like the image. Very nice, casual portrait. Then again, I have yet to see one of your pieces that I *don't* like! ;)

Hello, Charles:
I have never shot portraits, but the second I looked at this, I immediately liked it. Her expression was the first thing I noticed. For me, that's all I need. She seems relaxed, content. Nothing bothers me or distracts me, at all - not even the right eye problem. I also like the composition. The cropping, to me, seems just right.

Hi Charles,

I'm not so sure about this one. Here eyes seem distant, almost contemplative. However, she has almost a grin, or quark on her face that doesn't match. The upper left hand corner is a little distraction, kind of a hot spot that leaves me wondering what's there.

I would also, like you noticed, like to see a catch light in both eye.

Overall, still a very nice shot.

This is simply an excellent image that holds the viewer's attention. And until I read about your concern about her right eye, I didn't notice.
