Noise reduction software

Does anyone have any recommendations for noise reduction software?

If you use Photoshop 7, CS, CS2, CS3, or CS4, the Noise Ninja plug-in seems to be the undisputed king from everything I've read.

Noise Ninja does seem to get the most mention on photography Web sites. I'm sure it's good. I haven't used it, though. I've been using Imaginomic's Noiseware for a couple of years. It's also a Photoshop Plug-in. It works great for me. It's got a lot more control than I know what to do with. But when I need noise reduction, it does a great job for me.

Adobe Photoshop Lightroom includes noise reduction tools. So if you're already using it or considering it, then that's another option. It works pretty good, although not as well as Noiseware does for me.

I just got Neat Image for Christmas. Not an expert with it yet but I'm liking it so far. I have it installed as a plug in on CS2 and it works very efficiently.

I downloaded the demo version of Neat Image. It works up to a 1024 x 1024 px image: good for trying it out. A lot of settings to play with. What it appears to do is to make very small smudges (or ?) on the image, reducing the noise - but all the sharpness. It's acceptable for certain images.

For the occasional user it is fine. I use it myself when I need it. There are certain limitations, but nothing most people can't live with considering it's free.
