    Bike Riders and Sunrise

Everything I have shot lately has been bike related.

    Which one do you like?

Roosevelt Bridge crossing from Virginia to DC.

I probably like #1 best, but don't like the realtive blur of the bike rider. It would probably be boring itf the rider was frozen in motion, but panning might have been the best option. Just $.02.

Panning would kill the rest of the image.....

Yeah, but the biker kills it now. See how the light pole divides the image in two halves? Put your hand over the right half and see if you ike it better. It's really pretty, but lacks an visual anchor. If you put your hand over the left half, you have a picture you would probably discard. As it stand the light pole kinda gets in the way in any event. I think you have the makings of a great landscape photo with a not so great action photo with the bikers. Again, just a free opinion that you value at what you paid for it.

I agree about the light pole, it has bothered me all along.

    Time for a re-shoot!

    Re: Bike Riders and Sunrise

Lightpole notwithstanding, I like #1 & #3 much more than #2 because of the sense of motion the blurred biker(s) impart. Even w/ the lightpole, these are NOT worse than much of the stuff I've offered up here...

Could you flip the images horizontally and get them on the right side of the road? - TF

I hope you don't mind that I edited this (#1)
and the second I saw this i wanted to flip it, because as people why read from left to right, we also tend to look at pictures from left to right, and the street leads the eye from right to left!

    Re: Bike Riders and Sunrise

i didn't esp notice until i saw the flipped version, but its in the originals. but there is an awkward tilt i don't like. maybe its distortion from a WA lens. or maybe just the angles of the bridges and the curve of the road or something.

but its like the part of the roadway we can see is tilting away from the camera. and like i said its MORE distracting in the flipped image, but i can notice it in the originals to.

I like the flipped version. Flowing from left to right seems to work better.

    Re: Bike Riders and Sunrise

I can only echo the comments already made, of the 3 shots the first was the one that stood out for me and have to agree that the flipped version is a lot easier on the eye. The tilt Dylan mentioned is actually less prevalent in the flipped version in my opinion (funny how different eyes work). With regards to the light pole, I argee that cloning out such a large element probably goes against your approach but the re-worked sample really suggests that a reshoot might be in order! Great stuff.

Wow...it is amazing how flipping that photo changes it so dramaticially...........I had no idea that the eye moved from left to right.

    Re: Bike Riders and Sunrise

I like your first shot with the pole cloned out. The flipped version definitely works! Its because we're English readers and we read left to right. so that one works because it naturally starts on the left and leeds the eye deep in to the photo. The other might work in arabic countries. lol.

Nice one though. That river and bridge look to be very picturesque, u should def. reshoot imo.
