Re: Barn door (View from within)

The sight of that post and hook outside is discomforting and eerie and the door, which I can hear creaking, is open just about enough. This shot has a threatening mood for me and I am waiting for something, not very nice, to happen.
My tin can at work here shows the inside very dark but I know there is some detail there while will be more evident on my nice shiny shoe box at home. I am looking forward to seeing this again when I get home.

I'm jealous of your work Gary. You always turn out photo's that are sharp, composed and exposed well. I wish I could find something to critique, but alas, I cannot.

    Great photo!

This series makes me feel as if I'm in the barns looking out. I can almost feel a chill in the air and smell the barn smells.
B/W is working great and the lack of detail in shadowed areas doesn't bother me at all and may even enhance.
    No negatives from me.

Beautiful tones, excellent composition, perfect lighting. The rope just outside the door, the post. All addes up to a very good image. I agree with Tom it looks like an place where evil learks. Was this two exposures?

Re: Barn door (View from within)

Thanks for all the great feedback. On my monitor, there is detail to be seen in most dark areas except for the bottom area on the closed door and some other small areas here and there. It should be limited and high contrast as that lends to the feeeling that was there in the barn. It is dark.
Greg, this is one exposure but I did have to bring out some shadow detail where I wanted, and the sky was helped along by selecting it in PS and reducing it's exposure level a bit to bring back some more definition.

    Thanks for looking and commenting.

Gary - In general, I think this is a very successful shot. You seem to have a good eye for identifying sites. The exposure is good except for where the view fades out into the distance (sky), where I feel it is overexposed and somewhat destroys the spirit of the photograph, which is about detail. I think it may also be a tad cramped at the top. As mentioned, the detail is good esp at the bottom where I find myself drawn to. The upper half is not as good and seems somewhat lonely by comparison (it is a lonely shot, just seems to be screaming for a human model in there?).
