    Final Approach

Does this have any redeeming quality, or is just a complete mess? Touchdown is seconds away, passing through the buildings of downtown San Diego..., it depicts the movement that is the speed of a landing aircraft. I think!

    Thanks for the comments.

I wouldn't call it mess, but it certainly doesn't impress me. It's my opinion that if an image lacks focus, it needs to have interesting patterns, colors, textures, I don't see any of this, sorry.

I do like the inclusion of the engine (lower left) but I think it needs to be more prominent for this shot to really work. Either that or a slight pan to bring the buildings in the distance into focus. Definately a cool idea though.

    Re: Final Approach

I've got similar daytime images and binned them.
Night lights give this a whole new dimension, it almost works.
But I think it needs something sharp in the image, and even the engine is blurred.

Cropping off some of the black sky helps, for me.
The reflection of lights in water on the right is good.
So is the curving shape of the light patterns, with longer motion trails to the right.

But the blur in the distant buildings spoils it.
I wonder, if you retouch it to remove the duplicate light trails on the distant buildings to give the illusion of a static background, it may work better.

I think it's the upward, then downward curve in the distance that makes it look odd, and that one large light streak across the dark building. I think the second streak parallel to it is reflection in the 'plane's window.

Can I show you some details of what I'm thinking?

Interesting, imparts a sense of motion, engine gives it a sense of purpose.
