Kodak still loves you. They announced a new color print film today: Kodak Professional Ektar 100.

Thanks for the info, John. This is always good news. Is that name "Ektar" an old name? It sounds familiar.

Unfortunately, I don't have much use for a 100 ISO print film. If I'm shooting at 100 ISO, I'm using a tripod and shooting landscapes, and I always use slides for that. Mostly because my scanner does much better with slides. But, I may have to try this one anyway, just to see what it looks like.

Ah, yes. That's where I've seen it. A lot of the old Speed Graphics have Ektar lenses. Thanks for the links!

This is really good news, especially for a newb like me. I really believe there will be a new wave of film users as the really good ''older'' cameras are becoming very affordable...It was quite depressing to hear Poloroid pull out and others as well...so this is great news...

Yep this is a pretty interesting development and a good one as far as I am concerned. It certain provides another option to 35mm film users.

In the medium format area, I have see quite a few camera's and lenses in the Hasselblad area being sold. In fact I think the prices for used Hasselblad gear has actually gone up recently. Digital Backs for Medium Format Film are still outragously expensive. So film is the MF area is still attractive.

Hmm . . . I generally bad on names but didn't they used to make an Ektar 25 for real fine grain color? I seem to remember using it for photocopy work.
Unforutunitely, I am not big on Kodak fllm . . . loveed their ektapress 400. Beauty stuff great for low light & could print 8x10 from 35mm with it. Along with the 100 & 1600 was domed to an 800 speed which went down the trail to obscurity (rightfully so). Although I have some of their slide (100) film gives some impressive colors & saturation.

A little post-editing . . I loved their ektapress 400 & the 1600, a high contrast photojournalist negative film. Beauty stuff great for low light & could print 8x10 from 35mm with it . .

PS: It even came of a table of setting for pushing/pulling the film during processing . . nice colour with with push & pull processing and the 1600 would have grain like 400 . .

Yeah, Ektar 25 came out in the late eighties, if I remember right. I remember using it and could probably dig up some negs. I remember it having a bit of a heavy magenta cast to it. But you never know with print film. Could have been the processor. Although I probably processed it myself
