    Emergency

Another left over from my trip to Atlanta. This went over fairly well at some other places but I would like some thoughts from you all too.

    Re: Emergency

    Works for me, Greg.
I think the distortion really helps this shot instead of distracts. Deliberate?
The pedestrian is perfectly placed so that the rest of the scene seems to either be exploding off of her(?) or falling into her(?). If that makes sense.

    Re: Emergency

Thanks Frog, Yes the distortion was on purpose. I shot this with a 15mm lens. You make perfect sense I always enjoy your critiques. Thanks as well Polarbear. Yes I think it's a he?

    Re: Emergency

Wow, this pic has a lot of conflicting geometrics and lines shooting in different directions.

The subject is the walker but they are not really sharp enough or well lit enough for me. Makes it hard to get any information. I like the background showing that the area is under construction, adds a dynamic feeling to the shot...........

    Re: Emergency

Interesting shot Greg - it certainly has a dynamism to it with all the leading lines, distortions and so on. I am not sure it works though, at least for me. My eye keeps flicking all over the place as there is so much yanking my eye this way and that. It seems rather soft too where it needs to be sharp. I can see why the place appealed: the "emergency" pole is a photographer's gift. I am just not sure it all hangs together.

    Cheers

Thanks G, Thanks Mike. I have been trying new things an I need all the help I can get, yes it is quite busy. G, I am not sure about the softness. The print itself is pretty sharp. This is a film scan from my flatbed and I resize for the web the same way as everything else.

I like the composition. Nice and square like a weathervane pointing off in all directions. This is a unique shot.

Thanks Don, This was taken just off the campus of the University of Georgia Tech. The call button is for the Campus police.

    Re: Emergency

Personally, I'd like to see some select darkening of the sky, the rear buildings just a tad darker, that's just me...I like W/A here, the composition is excellent.I get a great message here.On one side EMERGENCY, on the other ...couldn't care less / relaxed / hands in pocket / no worries / peaceful stroll.Great contrasting ideas, a very cool urban scene.
    Good eye Greg,

    Rick
