    Sailboat

What do you think? Is this image too simple or what could make it a winner?

    Re: Sailboat

I love the colors - very rich.

If I had to find something wrong with the shot, there's something about the composition that takes away from it. There seems to be a lot of space that doesn't really call you in. It would be hard to crop the shot differently though. I like that the subject is off to the right. If you cropped the bottom you would lose the sail's reflection. I would be temped to crop off some of the left hand side but I can see that it is natural to want to keep that land mass in tact.

All in all I think it's a very nice picture. I'm not sure there is much that could be done to make it "top notch". All in my very humble opinion, of course.

Nice colors and exposure. I'm seeing this as trying to get the sailboat in lower right third..maybe moving right and shooting up a little?..nice reflection..did you get any portrait orientations, with more sky?
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!

    Re: Sailboat

Yeah here is the Portrait version. To get the sailboat reflection I had to be right there on a dock. There were alot of distracting objects if it was zoomed out any more.

    Re: Sailboat

I like the portrait version better.
I would have suggested moving right in the original but if you were on a dock that might have been an unpleasant experience.

That is a tough call between the landscape and portrait shots. I like the look of the portrait one, but it is a pity to lose all that beautiful water! Definitely not too simple in my opinion. I like them both.

I think the shadows need lightening a bit to bring up some detail.
