The Goddess of Fire, Her Bicycle and a Time Piece.

Been away from the Forum for several weeks following a death in the family. I needed to get out, take a walk and shoot pictures. These are examples of public art along the Embarcadaro in downtown San Diego. The Time Piece is actually a view through the art to a clock on the side of a building behind. The bicycle is lifesize, sits a top a pole perhaps 12 feet in the air and is more a weather vane than art; the bike will turn into the wind, the wheels are doubled sided and spin in opposite directions. Very clever. Hope you like them.

Sorry to hear about the death in the family CF.

The wall is really bright in the first photo, yet there is dark patch at the top of the round thing? It looks like really harsh light, maybe something softer? Thats my only nitpick for a nice series of photo's.

    Welcome back to the forum

    Danic,

Thanks for the kind words. My dad had been ill for a year and things finally caught up with him.

Thanks also for the comments about the pictures. I appreciate you taking the time to leave your input.

I like the colors and textures in number one..I might crop the bottom to take away the "nine part" and complete the circle. Number 2 is very nice..colors, movement..It might be nice with more of a landscape look..I like.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

Bright and clean--pop art style. I like the art and the photos.

    Don, jk:

Thanks for the comments. I was just out for a walk and these were easy marks. I too like the brilliant pop colors.

CF. So sorry to hear about your Dad, I know how you feel.

#1. The background is a little harsh, but I love the colours inside the piece of art.
#2. Love it, I really like the movement in the wheels.
    #3. Lovely rich colours.

    Cassie.

Re: The Goddess of Fire, Her Bicycle and a Time Piece.

CF - I really like these. The super saturated look works IMO, doesn't even look like downtown SD! (but people from somewhere else wouldn't know that). I think I would like the last better if it wasn't angled as it is. The bike one is classic - but is that the original crop? I would like a bit more space around it. If that's what you got, might be worth a reshoot. The top one is also great. But I would make it even more contemporary by turning that back diagonal line into a flat one by eliminating the dark gray part - just let it go from white to blue. Then clean up the other little spots in the back that aren't blue or white. I think you're onto something here, and it is worth more exploration.

    Hi CF,
Sorry to hear about you father. Hope you recover soon.
I like Photo 2 the best. The motion of the red blades with the blue sky background is very striking.

Prayers for you and your family during this time.

#2 is my fav. With the motion of the wheels, it appears the "hair" is also blowing in the wind. Looks like you had a perfect sky for these pictures.
