    Bette-ish

Working for a local chanteuse, she asked me to do a shot with similar lighting to this photo of Bette Midler on stage. I think I came close what says the forum?

Well phooey guys! You know I don't want to upload something that's not mine! I'm trying to do this the legit way. Hmmm. . . Is it OK to post it as a reference if I give total credit for the photo to the original photographer and don't keep it in my gallery? I think I need an adult.

OK here is a screen capture of the photo, I've left it in context with photo credit, hopefully that will satisfy the powers that be.

You certainly got that smoky, nightclub feel in it. Without your explanation though, I wouldn't know it was a singer - I suppose if it were in her portfolio it wouldn't matter, but would it be better if there were more clues in the picture? (eg slightly more spangle in her dress etc)

    Cheers

    CL -

I see the potential here. The idea of the lighting above is good and imho comes close to recreating the scene in the poster you posted, but to me it is just too bright and becomes a distraction. Her eyes are somewhat unclear and seem to be washed out / fogged by the light and it almost seems she is squinting because of it. I think she needs to duck her head down a bit to prevent that. Then you can use a soft reflector to illuminate her face a bit.

Good photo. The lighting is interesting. But she's prettier than Bette Middler.
