I think it is very good Gary. It looks like and ad in a travel magazine.

    Re: Paddling into a Sunset

I really like this image Gary. I think the composition is great. I love the rocks and shore in the FG and the colors in the sky. I'm not sure about the sun tho. I find it a bit distracting but I"m not sure there is anything you can do about it. It's placement in the frame makes it problematic to crop out because you will have to take out too much sky. I wonder what it would look like with it cloned out? I really like the image as is, but I'm curious about how it would look without the sun.

Great capture, Gary. The sun is bright and maybe can be toned down a bit but still a great shot.

    Re: Paddling into a Sunset

I think the reflection in the water might be problematic with a cloned out sun though. If you scroll down from the top to just past the sun you can get an idea of a cloned out sun. Personally, I would not even consider it.

I am not a big fan of silhouettes but this one works nicely. Without the kayaks it's pretty mundane, the kayaks make it interesting.

    Re: Paddling into a Sunset

    Thanks all for the comments.
I was waiting for the sun to come down a bit more which would have made it warmer and less harsh, but the kayaks set off in the water before I even realized they were there and had to grab the shot beofre they left the frame.
I was ok with the way it came out, but agree the sun could use a bit toning down
Here is a slightly edited version with a less harsh sun. It's a subtle edit, but I think it just helps enough to leave it be.
    what do you think?
    thanks

I think it's good but nothing spectacular comparing with other of yours. Perhaps there're just too many sunset/sunrise shots out there...

    Re: Paddling into a Sunset

Good shot, Gary. I think it's well above average but maybe not quite super level. I would like to see the paddlers bigger, the sun sharper, and also the sun a little lower on the horizon, so that it's just above the paddlers.. seems like a lot of 'vacant' space as is (maybe you could treat that as a PS project - move the sun down in the pic? Ha. That would take awhile to do!). Maybe another shot zoomed in to the paddlers too.

    Re: Paddling into a Sunset

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I wanted the sun a bit lower and was testing exposures while I waited, but these guys set out in the water and began paddling off to the side and I had to snap it while I could.
