    Down on the road

Two crops. I can't decide which of the two is better. C & C welcome. Thanks in advance.

I think I like the first as it gives more information. Must have been a fun event and I bet you have a lot of shots on your card.

Thanks Frog.......it certainly was, and I certainly did! Not every one of them turned out well, and I learned that I probably need a longer lens than 300mm to catch them high in the sky or at great distances, but all in all I was pretty happy with most of them.

I did notice though, that the vertical crop needs a smidge of sharpening. To me it looks a little soft.

    Re: Down on the road

Personally I go for the vertical one - but I tend to like clean and simple compositions more than messy ones. frog's comment though is valid too - depends on your taste I think. Both would be slightly better though if you had just a smidgen more room at the bottom - their feet are very close to the bottom of the frame.

    Cheers

Thanks, Mike. I see what you mean about the bottom. I'll review the original again.

    Re: Down on the road

I really like these shots. Of the two I'd pick the vertical. Wish there wasn't so many people/cars there, but theres certainly nothing you could have done about that. Other then the unavoidable people/cars I have no other critiques, good shots.

You know, you may be able to go back to the exact same spot at the same time and shoot the road, then with some diligent cloning and healing you can eliminate many of the people and cars... If you could figure out how to clone a basket, you could even get rid of all the people and cars.
