    Sun Drenched Cabin

Another in my Toccoa river area cabin series. This was a morning shot at 1/2.5 Sec @ F16...I think I used a tripod

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

ha, clearly you did use a tripod. Great range and color! I love the way the light permeates the trees. I would definitely brighten the darker tones - bring them closer into mid-range, perhaps through levels or shadow reduction. Great composition and exposure! If you dont mind I've got an edit I can try...

Great shot Rod, You might sharpen it slightly but the sunbeams are sweet. I like it...

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

Thank you John, Frog and Lori...I was pleased when I saw this one on the computer...I really wanted to keep that early morning feel here and resisted upping the levels and maybe taking away from the sun rays.
Greg, I will look into sharpening this more so. I assume the early light has left it a little flat even though I sharpened at what I thought was a high rate.

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

    Nice, very nice.

I love the light and where you placed the cabin in the frame.

If anything were to change I'd like to see a little more of the roadway at the cost of moving the cabin to the left edge of the frame.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

well I played with the lighting a little and ran some sharpening things..thought it looked a little flat in front...do you all think its better or worse?

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

Very nice, Rod. I like the original for some reason although both are very good. Well framed. Reminds me of a shot of a cabin I had thats compsoed almost exactly like this, although I think yours is better here.
    Well done.

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

    They both have their plusses.
The sharpening really brought out some detail and the first one has more of a morning in the woods feel so I don't know which I prefer.

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

I would warm the image up a bit, and darken left side of the cabin to add back more of a direction to the light and i think more natural feel to it. And drop the saturation a bit, too much and i think of pocket digital cameras. As is it's a pretty nice shot.

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

Thx for your responses Gary, Frog and Themage. I do have the d80 set to enhanced saturation but that is about all that was done in that regard...just some levels and such. It was really only one of two angles at this one with the slope of the hill heading down left and I kinda feel like the light and road on the right is not really strong enough subject matter to darken the front of cabin too much...but hey...you could be right. Thx for your critique.

    Re: Sun Drenched Cabin

I like it a bunch so don't change it too much I really like how the background looks with some haze to it makes it feel lush and alive. And you wonder what could be in the shed because the board is laying against it.
