    The Life Of The Party

I went to a photo club BBQ. This little guy was all the entertainment I needed.

CF, I think it looks like you did well in catching some sharp shots of this little guy. I feel the second and last image lets the subject stand out nicely whereas in the other two it is blending into the bg. The last one seems to allow a better view of the bird overall but I am more inclined to choose the second image because of it's body position and overall clarity.
A tighter crop would bring it to us even more.
    nice shootin,

That is amazing. what shutter speed did you use to actualy catch a humingbirds wings, they beat like crazy fast. Awsome shot, sorry for sounding like a pothead.

    armywife:

Thanks for the kind words. The shutter speed was f9.0 @ 1/125 but the ISO is/was 1400. The sunlight was perfect to help with stopping the speed of the wings. Hope that helps. Thanks again.

CF - Not bad. I like how you captured the fellow, but something looks strange about the images, over sharpened? (I did read where you used ISO 1400 .. Maybe that is it). Too bad the fellow's not framed against green instead of the white column - alas, hummingbirds aren't very cooperative, they bolt if they see you moving around

    GB,

Thanks for the comments. I too wish the angle of attack allowed for another vantage point taking the tree trunk out of the background. I am guessing the ISO 1400 has something to do with it also.

Those hummers aren't easy and I think you've done a good job especially with being able to almost freeze those wings. I like the third one best.

Thanks, Frog. The hummingbird is one of my favorite subjects. I am still in search of the prefect shot, however.

    Thanks, again.
