Low resolution issuew

Hi there,

I have a Canon Power Shot SD550 and have loved it so far. However, I went to make prints and some of the pictures have a resolution that is too low. I have NO IDEA how this happened. There are even photos from the same events where only some of them are too low the rest were fine.

I'm really puzzled by this and was hoping that someone will have some ideas as to how this could happen and how I could change my settings to prevent it from happening again in the future.

If you could post some examples, maybe we can help you a bit better. It could be that they may be out of focus, that the camera was compensating for different lighting(higher noise w/ higher iso or something of the like) or may other things.

What is the resolution of the images that are too low? Were they shot in low light? Do you have the camera set for auto ISO? Auto ISO and low light is the only way I can think of that there might be variations in resolution from image to image. Otherwise, you'd have to actually change the resolution and it would likely stay changed.

The resolution of the photos are set in the camera's menu. For best results you need to set the resolution to the largest size and the JPG to the Fine or Normal setting, (the best is RAW or TIFF). But be aware that you may need a larger memory card as these settings the photo file size is much larger that the lower resolution and higher JGP compression settings.

You mean the prints were low res. It is probably the processing. Where did you take it? Sometimes you can ask for the highest resolution (which still isn't that great).
