Strange shot indeed. It has potential, even if it gets me a bit disoriented. The stuff on the wall where it connects to the steps looks like ice

Here's what I would do to make it better:

- I can't tell if it's a soft photo or a soft subject, but I would sharpen it up a little.
- I would crop some off the top, probably just above where the wall drawing ends.
- Use the PS levels or equivalent: I am not sure what exactly to adjust, but the exp seems non-optimal.

It's really different, and in a good way.

Ya it took me a few times to see what i was looking at so in that aspect its a good shot.

It has been sharpened twice(over sharpened), leveled, and saturated. Iam trying to break free of the typical presentation of photography.

I like what you did, whatever it was you did, I like it alot, but its a bit too "well packaged" for what I was trying to do with the piece.
I honestly find them both equilly pleasing to look at. In mine I see a piece that is quite big, seen from a good distance away in a big space. yours I see in a more intimate setting viewed up close and personal, about how one sees it on the monitor. I feel it changes it from a photo to an artwork (neither a good nor a bad thing) done with other mediums.
In any case, bravo for the new version, It rocks. thanks for the critique and splendid new piece.

asterix2sf - Excellent observation. It has sort of transitioned from photo to art with the edit. I'm not sure if the vignette created that feeling. Seems like the line's blurring more all the time between straight up photography and manipulated artwork.

I usually prefer only to do minor tweaks btw. To me the shot here has a lot of potential but it just seemed a bit too soft and like you said it had already been sharpened as much as it could w/o looking processed. So I just pushed it all the way over the line

Just an experiment.

Hey are you really in France (I take it from your writing you're not French)? Lots of great photographic and art potential there.

I'm French but lived in the states most of my life, In this case the grass IS greener than where I come from, NM. There are quite simply good photo opts absolutly everywhere in the world, just got to shlep the equipment.

Welcome to the forum. I have seen the other posts you have put up as well as this one and I like the unusual perspective you are after. Your compositions are very good and the subject matter as well.
The color, textures and patterns make this a very interesting and pleasing photo to view.

Looking forward to more of your ideas and perspectives.
