with this eastern tiger swallowtail, taken this morning in my garden. Hope you like it.

I like the composition and format of the first image but find the butterfly a bit lost against the background. I'm thinking the more solid background behind the insect in the second image works better for me.

I'm thinking it took patience to get these......

Thanks very much for the comments. I didn't know about the background myself. I would prefer either solid white or a solid black but the more I looked at these the more I liked the busy multi-colored look; it seemed to work somehow. I was really hoping for more comments from folks to help with just this. Oh, well.

As for the patience, this specimen hung around (literally) for the longest time and made things very easy.
