    Sphinx Moth

It is that time of year when butterflies and moths are passing through like falling snow, not that I would know what that looks like living in San Diego. This beauty paid a visit to my backyard this mornng.

I really like these shots. Can you share a little about how you captured them?

CF..I really like the first one for the great bokeh background and overall color scheme..along with the nice capture! I think maybe a crop from the bottom..1/4..?.. and slight from the top might be nice to centralize the moth. Nice Pic!
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

    Dave/Lori/PC/jk:

Thanks all for taking the time to send comments. Always great to get feedback, I appreciate it very much. As for how the shots were taken, I pushed the ISO to 400, it was already a very bright sunny sky so I knew that would be plenty fast, then set the shutter speed as fast as I could hand hold. I use a monopod quite a bit so I also had help. These moths do not move as quickly as a butterfly, in addition, they are not nearly as skitish. Oh, and I set the shutter on the rapid repeat exposier. Thanks again for the comments.
