A green sally by any other name would be Aneides aeneus

So i finally found my first live green salamander! im so excited! it was in one of my traps, but i didn't have my macro lense with me so i bagged it up and carried it back to the car, took about 80 pics of it there, and now have it back at the cabin going to take some more pictures of it soon. but here are my favorite from the first round. its a pretty rare, climbing salamander, that lives in very specific habitats of moist but not wet rock outcroppings, and sometimes trees, but always blends in with moss.

let me know what you think, if i get any more good shots (esp full body ones) ill post them in this thread later tonight.

Well this one litterly fell in to it.... (a pitfall trap is a bucket burried in the ground up to the lip that animals walk to and fall in and get trapped).

I had been meaning to go find this species but i was always to tired to try after a day doing field work. so i was sooooo happy when i saw him in my trap. he will be returned to his place of capture first thing in the morning.

as far as all the other species, it helps to be in the area of the world that has the most diversity of salamanders, and be working on a project that samples for them, so i get to spend all day looking, and checking traps for them.

    Awesome!

I spent a bit of time at a certain place in eastern KY that supposedly supports those, but came up with only a wasp's nest. Worst flip ever.

Thanks guys, im flattered. i think ive decided on the one that is featured to print large! it cropped the best to square out of the ones i tried. and i toned down the white plant matter behind it to the left. so i just need to make sure i want to spend the 80$ on it.
