    What firefighters do for fun...

    "Water Tournaments"

They hang a barrel from a cable, and shoot water at it from both directions. The team to push the barrel onto the other team's side wins.

How to tell the most experienced shooter in a group? They have the least amount of toys on them.

    Hi Seb,
I like this photo. The composition is good. The blurred background and the clear foreground work well. I just wonder why one of the firefighters wore a shorts and the colour of a uniform is blue/black instead of yellow?
    All the best.

    Thanks Yoyo.

They are just doing this for fun, hence the shorts. As for the uniform colors, they have all sorts. Some are neon orange, some yellow, some black. I'll see if I have another shot to dig up to illustrate.

I agree this is a well composed shot. I like the dof. Only because you mentioned what it is that they are doing, I am looking for the barrel and wish it were there. But it was probably too high up for you to catch in the shot and keep the firefighters close enough in the shot. looks like their having a water sword duel. Nevertheless, I liike it ( where is the water droplets on your lens? or were you zooming from far enough away to avoid it.

Nice shot... I particularly like the contrast between the background and foreground. This is really good work - barrel or no barrel!

And, have you got one of those very nice (but pricey) Aquatech rain covers?????

    Gmen and gary,

First, thanks for your time. I used my 70-200 and was pretty far away. No, I do not have an Aquatech...yet. The guy from the Herald was there underneath it getting SOAKED, and his D2Hs got just as wet as him. I would LOVE a sealed camera, my 10D got sprayed a couple of times and it just freaked me out.

The barrel is there, it was just getting bounced around so much that one second it's there, thenext it's gone. I will still try to post some more from this when I get a chance, I just need to remember when I sit down in front of the puter...
