    Nikon D50

I'm Thinking about get a digital SLR to get more serious into photography. I have read the reviews and i am pretty sure this is the right camera for me.

Now, i have a question about what lens i should get for this. Something for all around use?

I've read that a 18-200mm lens would be good or that might of been for a different camera.

    Thanks

Edit// i found out i think its only for more professional cameras

I have a one question about the dimensions of the lens' in general. what the the 18-200mm stand for?

Its NOT a more professional lens and just about every one that has it loves it because it can be used in so many different situations and the vr lets you shoot hand held in darker situations.
18-200mm is the maginification power. It will zoom from 18 up to 200 mm.
On the d50 that is equal to a 27-300 lens for a 35mm camera.
    Keep Shooting!

I think it would be perfect and wished i had that one,i have the 18-55mm and then i change to the 55-200mm that has the vr. i hate changing all the time,i have the nikon d50 and it really is a great camera,as fast as you can press the button,if you have the camera nuetralled ,its ready to go right out of the bag and turned on ready to fire before it gets to your face.

I looked at that lens for my D50 but went ahead and went for the faster 80-200 f/2.8 . It all depends on what you want to use it for, I needed glass for sports that I could have some zoom and use in dark gyms, that is why I went for the 80-200 over the 18-200 which is a slower lens.

    Re: Nikon D50

A fisheye would be fun, but you might be better off investing in other lenses first- the fisheye shots might get old after a while.
Also, for a digital body like the D50, you would want to buy the Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8G DX fisheye instead of the 16mm you linked to, which is designed for cameras shooting film or a "Full Frame" sensor- if you use the 16mm on the D50, you'll lose a lot of the fisheye effect. The 10.5mm would give you the full effect.
