80-200mm 2.8/f limit switch

I purchased an 80-200mm 2.8, it is a great lens, but I have yet to figure out beyond knowing that it has something to do with focus, what the limiter switch is for... I'm sure that someone around here knows, would you please tell me because I'm just lost on this one.

I'm not a Nikon shooter, but I think the limiter switch does just that, it limits the range that your lens will AF. So if you know you are going to be shooting at something a long way away, you can set it, so that when the lens is trying to AF, it won't use the range of the lens that focuses closest to you. By limiting this the lens should be able to find and lock focus on your subject faster because it is "searching" a smaller area of the lenses focusing range.

ok, I have that part figured out, but how do I set it up, or what is the range?

The limit switch restricts the movement for close focusing. For close focusing focus the lens near its minimum distance the engage the limit switch. For longer distances focus at or near infinity then set the limit switch.

I have this lens, and have always left the switch on "Full". If the AF is hunting a lot, you might want to limit it but if that doesn't happen very often then you might forget about the switch and lose a shot.
