    Tidal Basin. Hanging In Mid-Air

It isn't often the water is this still and clear at sunrise.

Had the place to myself as usual.

I think this one has solid colors, strong graphic elements and those great reflections.

    Your thoughts?

Great colors and beautiful reflection MB. I'm a little uncertain about that tree on the right though. The image is very "clean" while that one corner with the tree feels a bit busy. Not sure how else to describe it if that makes sense. It is a very nice shot though. You always get the best sunrises. I wish I had your motivation...LOL

Its a really nice composition and exposure. What aperture were you shooting. I like the tree better with less foreground but you cant do that here. The memorial could use a little more definiton. Thats where my eye is lead. I would like to see a large version in the Gallery. Nice work.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!

Sweet reflection. That tree would look good in a portrait crop of just the right side. But for this image, its a bit distracting because it disupts that very cool line meeting of the horizon and the water edge on the right. I love the blue in this.

    My thoughts are ''WOW''!!!
Put a frame around it and hang it on the wall...
I like the tree off to the right and I like park benches, but that sunset
    I need to go practice..

I have to agree with Aaron. The tree is just distracting, but other than that well done.

Other than the tree looking like it's touching the skyline, I agree.

Would shooting it at a lower angle help?

I have no problem with the tree. It adds, I feel. Good placement of the benches in the fg and the edge curving off diagonally into distance. The bench and curve lead the eye to the tree and then the tree leanining and reaching out lead our eye into the rest of the image. Colors are great and the reflection icy and smooth. I think this is the best that I have seen you shoot from this Basin

    MB,

I will say one thing, you have the Tidal Basin DOWN. Great shot, really. The benches in the foreground are essential. The tree is a very nice element. But the colors, the reflection, well, you know how I feel about night (morning, sorry) shots and reflections. Well done, MB. You got a comment from the moderator, that is high praise all by itself!

Give me some place to set all of my equipment and to chill while I am waiting to see what the light is going to be like.

Of course during Cherry Blossom Week there is a waiting list a half mile long for those benches.
    No, I DON'T need that.

In Aperture I increased the exposure a half stop, opened up the shadows a tad and straightened.

did you bracket any...I think a smaller aperture would have sharpened up the monument some
