Loggerhead Shrikes and Meadowlark - Need Advice

After the heavy traveling last week, I wasn' t much in the mood for any long trips this weekend. That said, I just went out in a field by my house, and chased around whatever I saw. I actually stalked these Shrikes for over an hour  If you can imagine me lugging that beast of a lens and tripod out in a grassy, snake infested field to chase Shrikes and Meadowlarks! Anyway, which of the Shrike poses do you like best? They all look OK to me, but I'll probably only put one up on my site for sale:

And here's just a Meadowlark that was running around out there:

Humm like you say anyone of these is good to show , so its hard . If i really had to choose it would be number 2 for the Shrikes . The first one has that bud sticking out of its back and thats the reasons i did not pick it and number 3 is lacking the touch of color that 2 has .These are just my little nitpicks

Now that he pointed those things out, I have to agree with Knight.

I agree with you both about the pose in number 2, but I didn't like the branch through the tail. I also think the crop needed to be adjusted. How's this:

Re: Loggerhead Shrikes and Meadowlark - Need Advice

I would go with #2 also. I like the first version with the branch better. I think it adds a bit more depth to the photo. Just a nit pick, but I would try to bring out a little more of the eye. It's hard to get a black eye on black feathers or fur to really stand out, but when it does, it really adds to a photo.

#1 for me....either the first or the cropped/cloned edition.
Number 2 seems a little softer.

Mostly through Stock. I do move some through my own site, though.

Here's a fixed version of the first one:

I think they are all good, but if I had to pick just one I would chose #2 the original image. I don't mind the branch behind it's tail, I think it makes it look more natural IMHO.

Thanks for the FP! I'm glad you all liked these, and I will keep working hard to do find even better opportunities for images.

I like the 2nd one and am not a fan of "photo art". In other words, I don't ever plan to remove elements from an image.... but that's just me.

Maybe try opening the shadows a little in PS to get a more defined eye?
