Well, I went out with a buddy of mine to a state park we frequent a lot. I finally got out to try out my new Olympus E510 and with a few pointers from my buddy this is what I got. We trekked down to the base of the falls and snapped some pics.
Let me know what you think.

Great first pic  This small size doesn't do it justice. My only little nitpick, and this is more personal preference, is I would like to see the shot pulled back just a bit so you can see the top of the falls and some of the surrounding landscape.

I prefer the black and white one. After looking at your original, color version, I agree converting it to black and white is a good choice.
I don't need to see the sky. The sky put a hole in your photo, IMO. But, if your photo shows the sky more and it's a deep blue sky with beautiful white clouds, sure, let there be sky ;-)
I may crop it in portrait mode rather than as it is now...from the top of the fall down.
I agree with aging eyes. The sky did put a hole in it. I too would like to see it in a wide land scape position. The pp on the first one is really nice and would love to see that pic much larger...

I really like the composition of the first image (original post) The b&w goes great and the crystal glimmer throughout the scene adds alot to the scene. Very nice capture. This would look great to see it larger.
Nice work, and welcome to the forum.
Nice!!!
The larger pic is all that I thought it would be.

Fabulous opening NYTrekker and welcome to the forum! The black and white conversion and framing in this shot are just gorgeous. Definitely a sticky earner, congratulations! Looking forward to more of your posts.

Wow, all three photos are amazingly beautiful. But personally, I like the last one the best. It does look better larger, and in black and white. I love how the water flow is shown through the slow shutter.
I like the full version. The whites seem to dominate in the untouched version, but I'm not sure that your adjustment in the first posting is the answer (how's that for helpful feedback?). This one might look good with spot/selective color, or if the shot was originally color and you just desaturated it then perhaps mostly desaturated but with some color still showing through. This is all a guess though - you have to try and see.
