One Door, One Window

Taken at an old building near here. Unfortunately it was surrounded with chain-link fence and I couldn't get the perspective I wanted without it getting in the way (or without jumping the fence ).

Comments and Criticisms gladly accepted.

love em. I really like all the colors you are using, how are you achieving these? and what lens did you shoot that first one with, the way it comes drastically out of focus in the top of the frame to tack sharp on the door is really pretty rad.

Irina - Thanks for looking and commenting. I prefer to think that the colors are bold, not over-saturated . I also realize that there's a considerable group here that prefers the less saturated look. I've used that too, but here I wanted bold.

Brent - Thanks for the nice comments. I actually didn't go too crazy from what was there. Some levels adjustment and curves with some vibrancy thrown in. The focus/sharpness thing is more playing around with some PP than anything fancy.

In general I'm playing around with some different shooting and processing techniques to see what I like and what I don't. The shots I post here will likely never end up anywhere other than my backup hard drive somewhere.

I like the colors of them both. I think the composition is good too. I might would have cropped the grass on the second one, but the dab of yellow next to the red works well. I also like the sign and boards. Nice processing PC.

I like the first one but think the vignetting would work better with a b/w.

Personally I think these subjects can take the over saturation and I love them. Nicely composed.

PC you have done really well here. I'm a big fan of these subjects. The second is my favourite and I think I go along with Greg here regarding the grass. Nice and all as it is I think it's appearance slightly upsets the composition. I think seeing about two rows of bricks below the tin would be ideal. Nonetheless two very enjoyable shots.

Greg - Thanks for the suggestion on the crop. I tried to include the grass when I took the shot , thinking that it would provide balance but I'll try it to see how it looks.

Frog - Thanks for the suggestion on B&W. I tried a simple desaturation conversion and I wasn't completely pleased, but I may try some alternatives.

Roger - Thanks for the feedback and nice comments.

Overbeyond - I'm not saying that I only post those that aren't successes. I generally post shots that I like, but I'm a rank amateur and don't pretend otherwise. I have a few of my shots hanging on friend's/family's walls, but I've never sold a shot and don't expect that to happen any time soon. I'm not even sure that these shots will ever end up printed. More than likely they'll sit on my hard drive until I need to find some space and they'll be moved to the archives.
