    Zion ...

Just found this on my Canon point-and-shoot which I also took out to Zion Nat. Park in november. I like the contrast here, but am not sure about the overall geometry -- seems a little wacky. Comments?

It's nice but I think the tree itself should be lightened up a bit.

I like the geometry on this one. I agree with sten though that the tree could use a little lightening to bring out some more detail.

Perhaps a fill flash would have helped then. It's the only solution, as just increasing the exposure would wash out the pretty background. GB

very nice, I was impressed with your composition before on some of your zion shots and am again with this. Primarily that you pull out something good from what looks like maybe a difficult situation. I think it looks a bit blown out in the upper right, and the plain dirt on the bottom of the tree detracts some for me. Too bad not a few more clouds I think, I actually think it works fine with the tree like that and emphasizes its shape.

Eric - Thanks. Yeah I rarely find any scene perfect. You always walk around, crop, and do whatever other tricks I can to try to make something happen, and sometimes it works. I did notice that the embankment wasn't all that attractive -- too bad there wasn't any color there.

I'm thinking about hitting Zion again when there's snow! That would be a blast.
