    Black Car Hood Ornament

Taken at an outdoor car show. Working on exposing black properly. I think it came out pretty decent. Too much clutter for a nice shot of the whole car.

    Re: Black Car Hood Ornament

It is hard to tell from my screen what exactly is in focus here, perhaps the reflection and the air screen?

At any rate I would crop a bit off the left and the top and I do wish there were just a little more room at the bottom of the image so the reflection had more seperation from the edge of the image. I also think the whole thing is a little too dark but that could be my monitor.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Thanks MB1.

I could not get an angle to isolate the hood ornament without creating a shadow or getting my own reflection. I have always found chrome hard to photo. I like your idea of adding more space at the bottom. This is a 4x6 crop and I will look at maybe an 8x10. As for being Dark. The car was a Midnight Black and very shinny I had a lighter image but I then lost the deep black color. Not sure what else to do. Thanks for your input. I do not have access to a calibrated monitor so if other folks thinks this is too dark please let me know.

I would have liked a little more room in the frame in front in the reflection but other than that I think you did a nice job of it. Well done.

On my calibrated monitor, it looks good.
I agree about moving the frame down and right.
More space below, more to the right.

I posted my own in viewfinder, you made me go dig up a set from the Goodwood Revival.

    Re: Black Car Hood Ornament

Thanks Greg and Paul I appreciate the feed back. I will look at re-cropping that is if I have anything to re-crop. This was just one of hundres of pictures I took that weekend. So I don't remember what I had. The only post processing on this was the crop and BW. The color version looked pretty much the same except the chrome was giving off a reddish bronze type cast. I thought it looked better in BW.

Paul I really like the Viewfinder thread you started and will be able to contribute once I have some more time. Unfortunatly I found the original of this picture and have room everwhere but at the bottom. I may try and PS something in and see how it looks.
Thanks to all Again for taking the time. This helps me develope a better eye for when I take the picture.
