    A common struggle

Loneliness.. What do you think? Does the composition work?

    Re: A common struggle

The composition is good and you have conveyed the feeling of loneliness/sadness. Her placement in the frame is strong and the use of the black negative space helps create the mood. My only comment is with the arm hanging down. Typically having an arm or leg leave the frame at a joint is not desirable because the minds eye has a difficult time finishing the image. The elbow missing is ok because there is enough information for the mind to fill in. Good post.

    Regards,

    Phil

Thanks and although I agree with you about the arm there wasn't much I could do about it because stepping back would have caught other details that would destract from the main subject. I framed it as best I could for a shot that was only there for a few seconds. Thanks for the comments though.

    Dave,

I agree with the arm, I would crop it a little higher which would solve that problem and while your at it clone out the sticky upy thingy (technical term) on the right.

Beautiful capture and a lovely expression.

I'm no expert on portraits but I just played a bit with cropping on yours and I think if you crop much of the right and a bit of the left making it more of a vertical it will make the composition stronger.
    Good catch by the way!
