Burrowing Owls - More "Low and Slow" experimentation.

OK, so I decided to mess with the bad light and low ISO/Slow speeds again. Drove over to Cape Coral, and shot one of the new Burrowing Owl locations I had found. The first three were all shot at ISO 50. The last was just posted for the humor of it, and was at ISO 200. No NR or real PP (beyond crop) on any of these except the last

    ISO 50, 1/30, f/10

    ISO 50, 1/40, f/10

    ISO 50, 1/100, f/8

OK - So the way these Burrowing Owls live out in Cape Coral is simple. They just find an empty lot, dig some holes, and move in. Once they're there, they're protected. Consequently, that tends to "inhibit" development in the area somewhat. It also means the lot never sells, because as long as the owls are there, no one can build there. Anyway, these owls are on an empty lot right next to a bunch of houses. The lot owner would obviusly like to sell the lot, but it has been empty (and occupied by owls) for a long time now. Well, I managed to (unintentionally) spook a couple of the owls, and they flew over and landed on the "For Sale" sign. I can think of a million captions you could put on this photo, and I'll bet the stock agencies will love it. I obviouly PS'd out the phone number. Should be good for a laugh at least  Plenty of room to play with the crop - I just threw it together for the entertainment value.

    Nice images - I especially like #1.

Wow those are some slow shutter speeds and I'm assuming you're at the long end of your tele?

I use f/11 about 80% of the time with my combo (but ISO 400 ).
