    boys

Hey guys, it's been quite a while since i've posted on here, but it is good to be back. I went to Burkina Faso recently (West Africa) and got some interesting shots. How is lighting? It was a really sunny day, but I was shooting from shade, so I'm not sure if the shadows worked out. Comments would be appreciated!

The top photo looks good to me. The lighting on his face is perfect, he has a nice (not goofy) expression, the blown out background really works and he is well framed by the fence which is also exposed well.

You did well with the lighting. The top one looks perfect to me.

I have one problem with the bottom one which is the bar cutting across his eye, if the shadow had been a tad higher you'd have a second winner for me.

Hi Echo - Welcome back. When I saw your screenname here I thought wooah haven't seen her here in awhile! The kids seem like they're from somewhere other than the US. The color and exposure is mostly good, I feel,.. not sure about how the wood sits there in front of them though, esp on the bottom shot. But I guess they were supposed to be peaking through the fence. Seems like African kids have a pure, optimistic pose about them that distinguishes them from kids anywhere else in the world. I think you captured that here.

    hi guys!
thanks for the comments. I do agree, the first picture is better in composition and lighting than the second. The kids were such cuties though!

GB1, yep, I haven't been on here in so long! It is good to be back though, I hope that I will keep shooting. I went through a slump for a while, and wasn't getting any shots that I was happy with. Plus school has been keeping me pretty tied up. But anyway, i hope to be on more often in the future!

You've caught his eyes just beautifully!! I'm with Roger. That silly shadow is the only thing detracting from the image. Just beautiful!
