    Exclamation Canon EOS 30D

hi guys,im waiting my new 30D the end of this month,im getting it with the EF 70-200mm F4/L USM,the 580EX II ETTL speedlite, the BG-E2 battery grip and an 8GB Kingston Compact flash. What i want to know is wether i can put on another battery in the BG-E2 wich have higher AMP's (but the same voltage)than the original wich have i guess 1400mah (or close),and id like to know if (as i read it before somewhere) the batteires for the speedlite will be better and faster to use if i put in it some NIMH batteries, but the thing id like to know wich power can i use and if the energizers are good for a start ... thank you ... hope ill hear soon some replies

I haven't had good luck with non-Canon batteries. I've had a few where they work fine for a while and then start going dead quickly. I had it happen with a 10D battery and now I have a non-Canon XTi battery that's doing the same thing. We got a battery for the office So ny A100 and it never worked at all. So I would recommend sticking with the manufacturer batteries and just buying a few. I have three for my XTi, one of which is the bad one. I will probably replace it with a Canon battery. I think three batteries is a good number if you shoot a lot. I can shoot all day at a tradeshow and not run out with three. That was not the case with older cameras like my 10D.

The Energizer lithium E2 batteries are awesome. But I use NiMH rechargables for my flashes. I keep a set in each flash and keep a couple of charged sets in the camera bag. If you don't use your flash much, the lithiums are supposed to be better because they hold their charge longer. But if you shoot at least once every couple of weeks, I'd go with the NiMH batteries. They're much more practical.
