    Back from vacation

The wife and I got back from Glacier NP, The Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone NP on Wednesday. I have had tons of other things to do since getting back, and haven't had much time to go through the all my photos from the trip. This one is a little darker than I normally like, but I love the back lighting on the antlers so I left it alone. Only PP done is a little sharpening. This is full frame at 170mm. More to come as I get them processed.

Thanks Knight. Yes, I was pretty close. Too close for comfort actually. He was a little ways off the road when I stopped. I saw him heading one way, so I moved to be in position to get a shot when he came out of the trees. Then he turned and started walking towards me. He crossed the road right in front of me, but he was too close to get anything but fur.

Here is another version of the same shot. I tried to bring out more detail in the head and fur on this one. Which one do you prefer?

Thanks Loupey. The Sigma worked out pretty good, even after I took a nasty fall with it. I managed to save the camera, by sacrificing the knee and elbow. I just finished processing day one of the trip, so more to come.
