Re: Lipe Island with EOS 400D

Welcome to the forum, glad you found us.
In your phototgraph, the vessel appears to be burned out or abandoned? however, it does not come across quite clearly and so the subject here is hard to identify. The horizon is placed well in this vertical frame but I think a horizontal framing would work best here.
The skies and color is nice, but the subject just seems to be an after thought here.
Did you compose this scene in any other ways?

Re: Lipe Island with EOS 400D

    Welcome to Photography Review.

There is always potential in photographs that are to begin with well exposed. This appears to fit that category, but gary's comments about the composition and focus issues cover much of the rest of the technical challenge with this photo.

I would add that whether composing in a landscape or portrait aspect, try to include a complete element, or make sure we know what you are shooting, the subject. As an example, are there two or three boats? I believe I see a third boat on the horizon behind the one more towards the middle.

The driftwood on the beach in the foreground could be an anchor(pun intended) for the rest of the scene. As it stands it almost is an afterthought. This needs either more beach or none.

Looks like you have a good eye to see a scene now it is a matter of showing with a photo really caught your eye with some what are really minor refinements.
