    Re: help

This is a good question! I say that because I've been asking the same question (to myself) for the past few weeks. I've tried both of them and find they're very different cameras with different features. I'll include a link to each below - and you can check out the specifications which may help you to make a decision. My decision process was probably different than yours.

I just came to a final decision between the two today. I chose the S5 over the G7 for 2 reasons: 1) Focal length on G7 is 210 - S6 is 432 and I wanted the longer zoom. 2) I have a slight camera shake problem. I found the G7 too small with virtually no real grip, so I had a difficult time getting a sharp image on the longer end. The S5 has a good grip and is larger, slightly heavier. I found no evidence of camera shake in most of my images even at the longest focal length.

The IQ of the G7 and S5 are very close. The G7 has a slight edge which IMO is not or barely noticeable under normal conditions/print size. I was surprised to find that I got very sharp results handheld at 432mm. I was actually amazed!

However, the G7 has great reviews as does the S5. Many people prefer the size of the G7 - I prefer the larger size.

These are 2 different cameras - it depends on what features/specs you prefer. For me personally it was a difficult decision as they're both awesome cameras. I've seen some really sharp photos from both.

Check the specs and feature sections of these 2 cameras.
