    Mesmerized

There was a bug that was hovering around the light over our kitchen sink. The cats have been sitting there for over an hour. Carla convinced me to grab the camera for a few shots. Here's one I liked. Not sure if I should have had more fill lighting though

    Re: Mesmerized

Cute. I think the lack of fill lighting helps to draw the eye to what the cats may be looking at. That's the first thing I looked for when I saw it. I like it the way it is.
My kids think I have one big round eye and a light on my head!

Thanks mamajan I wish my tripod hadn't been out in the car. They ended up sitting there for about 2 and a half hours...LOL Could have had some real fun with the cam. This was shot hand held at ISO 1600. Viewing this image any larger and all you see is noise unfortunately

Overall I really like the result, I would crop the left hand side slightly, the wooden bracket fixed to the tiles on the right hand side reminds me of an icicle and guides the viewers eye neatly into the main subject matter.

left, right, who cares ? I like the original.

I'd crop the other left, take out the bowl and probably up to the edge of the light, perhaps slightly beyond to get all the bowl out.
Leave the light grey of the wall on the other side, because it shows up the other cat's back profile.
I'd edit out what looks like cracks in the tile at the bottom of that bracket, it's distracting.

LOL... That would be the "thinks he's Mr. Fix-it" landlord Just a bad cut around job. Thanks for you comments. I just need to find a bug to get their attention again now that I have the tripod inside...LOL

Funny shot. Not sure that I'd know what they're mez'd on w/o the caption, but it is a very good catch! So many times I've seen ops like this and wasn't able to get my freakin' camera set up in time to capture it (shows my landscape background). The black and white adds here, IMO.

    Re: Mesmerized

Thanks GB If only I had known they were going to be there that long. I would have run out to get the tripod and try to work in the bug they were after. In this case, the black and white was need as there was a lot of noise in the original. After the b&w conversion I just up'd my black level which took care of most of it, or at least what was visible in this size image.

Great catch. I think what others think of as flaws only add to the atmosphere.
I do wish the bug was in it but probably would have just been a blur.

    Hi,
It is cute and hilarious. I just wish the 'bug' was a 'superbug'. ;D

this works well. Good lighting and use of black and white. Good repetition of the cats :P

    The crop is even better.
