    Dry Stone Wall-Burren Co. Clare

This is from a very early morning walk in the Burren.
    Your thoughts are always welcome.

Tom - I like the subject, but not sure about the angle and how it all fits together compositionally. Seems like too much foreground, and the rocks make the pic look tilted when it probably isn't. Maybe there is some angle that does it more justice? I'm thinking there is.

Tom, this is a great subject. I like the angle that you composed this from. . . This is actually one picture that I would say could benefit from less clouds in the sky. I think seeing the line of the stone wall against a blue background would bring it out more. It is competing a bit with the dominant clouds. That is the only thing I can think of for improving this already strong image.
    Nice work

    Thanks for your comments friends.
Gary your comments concerning the clouds are interesting. Pity I suppose they were not that little bit higher; thus leaving the wall against the blue as you pointed out. Good point.
GB;interesting also your point on the angle. I honestly thought it was the angle of view that gave it whatever impact it has. I appreciate your thought though.
Polarbear thanks for commenting and the Burren is indeed a unique landscape.

Very nice landscape Tom. It makes me wonder how the rocks got there in the first place. Is this an old wall or what? It has a bit of mystery to it to me. I like it.

Re: Dry Stone Wall-Burren Co. Clare

    Tom -

I almost missed this one! I'm so glad I found it. This is really a beautiful landscape shot. The clouds imitate the cragginess of the wall and the angles are steep and wonderful. The colors are complimentary between the rocks, grass and sky. The shadows are realistic but not to deep (and not HDR'd thank heavens.) and bring depth to the rocks in the foreground. Everything about this picture makes me want to go out and climb the hill, to follow the wall. I just watched a documentary on Ireland and the Burren recently so this had double impact, as I know just enough about the area to make me curious to know more. Thanks for the link I'm off to look at that now. Have a lovely day!

    Dear Cindy
Thanks so much for your interesting comments here. The Burren is unique and well worth a visit.
Speaking of HDR; I have seen nothing yet that convinces me.
    Many thanks again.

    Tom,

I like the angles in the picture and shows the landscape that the people worked.

My one critique is that the top of the wall seems as if some dodging has been done and left a halo around the top into the blue sky to bring out the shadows. I could be wrong of course and this is what the Camera saw. If you did dodge this you may want to re-work it before printing.

I love the textures and agree HDR doesn't hack it yet.
