Sailing Towards a Serene Time Bomb

The beauty of Mt Ranier is worth the danger...for now.

Not sure what to think about the super dark treeline. Lightly tonemapped from a RAW, colors slightly enhanced.

Your thoughts? (shot from the Seattle-Bremerton ferry)

Love the vividness of the mountain top. The darkness of the treeline doesn't bother me at all. Infact I think it enhances the mountain. The only thing that bothers me is that the boat is really small and that its sail (or stick, not sure what they're called) is connected to the treeline.

You're looking toward my place. I live so close to the thing, I usually can't see it.
The colors and sharpness are good. Its just rather a plain picture. I never tire of her either but this photo needs something...evening light, some clouds, something.
    Look toward her at sunset.
Have you seen the lenticular clouds on her yet?

    Hi Mr. Yuck,

I like the framing and the cool colors. The only thing that bothers me is that the sail boat is moving away from the camera. It would be easier to see if it was at an angle or moving accross from side to side.

This is actually a very pleasant photo to look at. I don't mind the boat sailing away from the camera, nor do I mind the dark treeline. It seems to give dimension to your photo. The rule of thirds is working here, as is a nice, straight horizon.

My only advice would be to try shooting it at dawn or dusk, depending upon which way the sun is pointing upon the mountain at that location. That way you can get some nice golden sunlight on that snow capped mountain. Good job!

Gorgeous location.Drop the mast 1/4 ", or shoot in the golden light...that's it.

    Nice work.
