All good, but I especially love the 2nd one. I don't care for the blurry background on the first one. The salamander should have been picked up and moved to a nicer background. I think I would have also tried for a little more DOF so his whole tail would be in focus.

    Re: Weekend hike

i'm nto sure what you mean by blurry background? the first one is a time blurr of a rapid. and the background rock is lit by the sun (made it hard to get a good exposure).

does the tilt of the second one bother you? i didn't notice it until i posted it. seems like the water is falling to the right, not straight down.

the salamander was moved from a pile of sand/gravel to a more consistent background. yeah i should have bumped the apature up a bit. i've been fooling around with apature alot lately, must have just forgot on that one.

    thx for the reply mike.

Dylan, they all look good. I like the mushrooms the best, but then that is just my humble opinion.

My apologies. Now that I look at the first one again, I can see my mistake. The moss on the rock looked to me like blurry grass, as if being blown by the wind. I guess I should look twice and post once. :blush2: The tilt doesn't bother me. The beauty of the water coming down dimishes any other minor imperfection there may be.

    Re: Weekend hike

Nice images. But the tilt in #2 does bother me. Unless done intentionally/drastically, non-vertical verticals and non-horizontal horizontals drive me a little crazy. Might be the engineer in me

    Re: Weekend hike

Paul- HAha i have a wide variety of pics on there for various reasons... maybe i'll make a special webshots album with all my herp images... i gotta buy an external HD first though so i can put all my dvds of pics on it to sort through.

loupey- yeah they bother me to.... i was really trying to keep the log (upper right) out of the shot, and the tripod was on mossy slippy rocks, so it may have slid or i just didn't level it. plus it was taken from the side mostly (hard to tell in pic) so it might not actually be that far off.

Great shots! Congrats on the featured photo. I like that one a lot, but my fave of this bunch is the 2nd one.
