    Stalking My Prey....

    Hello All,

this is a shot i took a while back of our cat who was stalking my wife's foot at the time. I made a rather major crop which i think kind of makes the image. let me know what you think....

Thank you all for taking the time to look.

This is a great crop, but a little too tight at the top. Like the focus here.

Alex I really like this especially the way the colour of the grass which is reflected in the colour of the cats eyes. Nicely captured.

Just a tad more space on top would nail it for me.

    Re: Stalking My Prey....

I would just add the grass on the top in photoshop. Its just such a great shot that i think cheating would be fine. Crop it right, then just edit out the shed colors and add some background grass. I wouldn't sell a shot that I had done this to, but I would hang it on my wall. It does bring up an interesting question about post production editing.

The narrow crop really makes this a better picture. I agree it would be nice to have a little more on the top. REVERB......You bring up a good question maybe for another thred. To me taking out a shed is not the same as adding a baseball missing from a shot. But I am an amature...

Love it! Good luck with adding a little to your upper portion. I agree that it would really pull this shot together.

Ok this is a really quick rework! took about 5 mins and looks very dirty but gives you an idea. what do you think? better or worse? does it deserve some time spent on it?

    thanks all.

I'm sorry, but at the size posted it doesn't dirty. That little space make the photo more powerful.

    Re: Stalking My Prey....

Excellent shot. I agree with the others that there could/should be more space above his head. Better to capture the moment without the perfect composition than to miss it though.

I think this is an example of a shot that would be great very large. Somehow, it just doesn't come off as well shrunken down to 640 px wide. Maybe because it would be more fearful if large, like a full sized tiger! You could print it out large and frame it.

    Re: Stalking My Prey....

I love the picture; the colors are vibrant, and the emotion of the cat is nicely captured. The narrow vertical field that you croped is nice, but perhaps if you left a little more room in front of the cat's gaze to lead the eyes towards infinity... that would have been nice too. Nice picture.
